2.4 Order of precedence. Unless otherwise noted herein or in the contract, in the event of a conflict between
the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this
document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained.
3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Qualification. Contactors, controllers, and associated switching devices (relays, switches (see 6.8.84), and
so forth) furnished under this specification shall be products that are authorized by the qualifying activity for listing
on the applicable qualified products list before contract award (see 4.3, 6.7, Appendix A, and Appendix B).
3.2 Basic requirements. Unless otherwise specified herein, the equipment (see 6.8.31) shall conform to the
requirements of MIL-E-917 for the following items:
a.
Materials (except cadmium plating, which is prohibited).
b.
Electrical shock hazard.
c.
Electrical creepage and clearance distances.
d.
Threaded parts and fastening devices.
e.
Electrical insulation (see 6.8.37).
f.
Insulating procedures.
g.
Wire, wiring methods, and marking.
h.
Parts.
i.
Processes.
